Frequently Asked Questions

Are all the teachers Christian?
Yes. Each confesses Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and are active members of a Christian church.

Are all the teachers Certified?
Yes. All the teachers have teaching degrees and participate in regular professional development to enhance their skills.

Does the curriculum match the Ontario Public school curriculum?
We meet or exceed the standards of the provincial curriculum. In national standardized tests our students rank in the 75th percentile or higher.

How is your curriculum different?
Besides having daily devotions and regular Bible classes we also have the typical set of classes that include everything ranging from Math, Science, and English studies. All subjects are taught from a biblical perspective. This means that students learn how God created all things and that we need to honour Him in what we do with His many good gifts. The curriculum is designed to evoke an awe in students for the Creator and a Christ like heart of service to all people and things in God’s world.

Is bussing included in the tuition?
Yes. There are no extra fees for bussing. Bus routes are made in August and attempts are made to get as close to each family as possible without raising the cost too high.

What special programs does the school offer?
All students participate in either the primary, junior, or intermediate choir. Students in grades 5-8 have a chance to tryout for the chamber choir. We also offer band class for grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. SCCS is a member of the Strathroy Arts Council and, as a member, we participate in art shows that are organized by the Council.

Students can also participate in a variety of intramural sports programs. Along side of this our school competes locally in Cross Country running meets and in volleyball and basketball. The school also plays in tournaments with other Christian schools in South Western Ontario in Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, and Track and Field.
